Hiking, rock climbing and fly fishing combo

This would involve fly fishing, hiking and rock climbing in close proximity to the Harry Gates-10th Mountain Division Hut.  This is a 3 night/4 day adventure with the first night at the authentic Diamond J Guest Ranch East of Rudi Reservoir in historic Meredith Colorado.  Day 2 we will drive to the Harry Gates Hut and then hike to Eagle lake for a day of fly fishing.  Eagle lake contains an abundance of Brook Trout, Cutthroat and the elusive Tiger Trout.  Day 3 will revolve around rock climbing at Lime Park which has some outstanding limestone sport routes.  Day 4 we will head north toward Eagle.  On the way we will explore Fulford Cave and fly fish East Brush Creek which contains some surprisingly big wild fish for it's size.

  • Hut Location: Harry Gates Hut is located in the Sawatch Mountain foothills of central Colorado at 9,700, about 15 miles northeast of Aspen, and about 17 miles south of Interstate Highway 70. Nearby peaks rise above 12,000 feet.

Gates of LODORE on the Green River

GATES of LODORE on the GREEN RIVER

Thursday May 31 - Tuesday June 5, 2017

About the expedition

The Green River carves a course through three unique canyons in Dinosaur National Monument - Lodore, Whirlpool and Split Mountain - each with its' own distinctive colors, and character. Lodore Canyon was the first major canyon encountered by the famous explorer John Wesley Powell on his 1869 expedition, and while their misfortunes led to rapids with names like Disaster Falls and Hell’s Half Mile, you're certain to view this place as little piece of heaven.

A relatively short canyon in terms of length, Lodore thereby leaves plenty of time for exploratory hikes to pictographs, waterfalls, and shaded grottoes - or long afternoons in camp to explore the world around and within us.

Gates of Lodore Itinerary:

This expedition begins at the Gates of Lodore campground and boat ramp on the evening of Thursday, May 31st where we’ll gaze downstream at the famous “Gates of Lodore” that await our group the next morning.

On Friday June 1, our expedition will launch onto the Green River and a magic carpet of beautiful green water into the unique redsthat come alive on Lodore’s canyon walls - changing hues as the angle of the sunmoves throughout the day. We’ll navigate numerous technical rapids in rafts andinflatable kayaks, hike to grottos, waterfalls, and ancient pictographs. We’ll campalong the way on sand beaches under a blanket of incredible stars, bellies full offantastic meals provided by the best professional river guides.

All along the way, through candid conversations and facilitation, we'll be amplifying the experience of the river and canyon to extend your horizon for what appears possible. This is a stunning backdrop for a like - minded tribe ofadventurers to unlock the answers for connecting deeper to whatever mattersmost in life. What are you really here to do? You want more of something - what is it? More importantly, what's holding you back?

Ultimately, we’ll be awed by the scenery and energy that make up Echo Park -where the Green River confluences with the mighty free-flowing Yampa River, and we’ll finish our expedition adrenalized in Split Mountain Canyon as the river changescharacter with increased volume and gradient - offering several large volume rapids. Arriving at the take out mid- to late-afternoon on Tuesday June 5th, expedition members can be back to the front range late that evening.

Your investment of $2,700 includes:

- Intensive professional growth facilitation workshop centered around a unique wilderness river expedition.

All river and national park service fees.

Professional, licensed river guide service and gratuities.

- All meals and snacks on the river (3B,4L,3D) with attention to dietary preferences and restrictions.

- Tents, sleeping pads, and personal dry bags (large and small).

- Vehicle shuttle from put-in to the take-out.

Moab Canyoneering and Climbing

Hidden throughout the Moab desert are slot canyons carved hundreds of feet deep into the ancient sandstone, sometimes so narrow that you can touch both sides at once. These remote canyons see few visitors, and only by the use of ropes for rappelling and rock scrambling can their narrow passages be navigated.

Rock Warrior's Way Training for Non-Climbers

The Warrior's Way Workshop - Living Life Intentionally, June 22 - 24, Estes Park, CO

The "Warrior's Way" is a way to live life intentionally, which requires becoming increasingly aware of our mental limitations.  By becoming aware of our motivation, ego and resistance to stress, we act as warriors, moving toward stress, engaging it as a learning opportunity.  The Warrior's Way was created by Arno Ilgner, a renowned climber and author who has worked with this material for 20 years.

This workshop will be co-facilitated by Arno Ilgner and Bob Neuman.  Experience outdoor climbing in a magnificent location and transform how you "show up" for life, and from that realization, live life as a warrior.

Key learnings from the workshop:

  • By changing how we use our attention, we change how we relate to fear/stress and reclaim our mental power
  • Understand the difference between how warriors and victims meet life challenges
  • Find balance between stress and comfort- changing the status quo
  • Understand how to balance extrinsic and intrinsic motivation
  • Value the learning process and diminish ways we sabotage it
  • Diminish negative aspects of the ego, which creates limiting beliefs and behaviors
  • Have tangible tools (practices) to apply in life to live as warriors
